Cassandra Reich, PT

Cassandra Reich graduated from the University of Colorado with a BS in Kinesiology in 1989 and from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center with a B.S in Physical Therapy in 1991.  She began Avanti Therapy in 2001 in order to be able to address rehabilitation issues in a more holistic environment.

"Many years ago, while working with chronic pain clients, I made an important discovery. Not a discovery that was written up in any medical journal, but a discovery that has had the most important implications in my career as a therapist. I realized that there was no "cookbook" formula for treating clients with serious disorders or injuries. The clients I met were multifaceted and enigmatic. Not only were they "their disorder", but also they were their emotions, experiences, personality and physiology. I made the commitment to myself (and a silent commitment to my future clients) to learn all that I possibly could about EVERY aspect of the human body and mind, considering that knowledge as a whole and never a part. I have kept that promise to myself and find that my physical therapy practice is increasingly rewarding as I continue to add to my learning experience daily.

I was trained as a manual orthopedic therapist. I still love this technique perspective and am fully glad to have this skill in my repertoire. But treating clients involves much more than orthopedic skills. The body and mind, as they interact with each other, affect all therapeutic outcomes. Listening, learning and applying that knowledge become the center arena for treating diverse maladies. In the last 10 years, I have added to my "conservative" Physical Therapy skills the therapeutic techniques of Craniosacral Therapy, Myofascial Release Technique, and Hakomi Bodywork. These techniques involve a much deeper understanding of the connection between mind and body and allow me to view my client as a whole being rather than an affected part of that being. One technique cannot be used for every disorder or injury. The knowledge of many techniques and the trust of my hands have allowed me to successfully treat clients who have previously searched for resolution. I take nothing for granted - I am always searching for answers to my many questions."
